Coal Mine Bump Training (Training Manual & Presentation)
Coal mine bumps have the potential to result in significant production consequences and loss of life. Coal mine bumps can eject material from the longwall face during coal cutting, result in rapid eruption of entry floors, and the explosive failure of one or more pillars. The following topics will be addressed: consequences of bumps, geologic environments, mine planning considerations, available modeling tools, in-mine observations, and bump risk assessment.
This training module consists of PowerPoint® slides, videos, handouts and computer simulations. The slides include discussion notes and case studies of several typical coal mine bumps will be part of the training.
Target Audience: The target audience includes miners, mine management, and union members.
