Funding

Our program is currently funded by grants received from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Our NIOSH grants, which we have received since 1999, have allowed us to establish a Western US Mine Safety and Health Program (MSHP), with a training emphasis, while our MSHA grants have given us an opportunity to focus on developing training specific to mine emergency training. We received MSHA Brookwood-Sago grants in 2009 and 2010.

We also generate a modest amount of program income from course registration fees. All of this funding is utilized by the MSHP to further support the objectives of our current NIOSH grant.
